The mind behind the poetry
About the Author – Fendly Foster
Fendly Foster is a Jamaican poet whose voice has been shaped by decades of reflection, storytelling, and a deep connection to Black history. He began writing poetry and short stories in 1985, shortly after graduating high school, using his pen as a way to document the experiences, struggles, and triumphs of his people.
For many years, Foster wrote privately — crafting verse after verse, preserving memories, and capturing the emotional weight of the past. Much of his work remained unseen and unpolished, kept safe until the moment felt right to share it with the world. That moment has come with the publication of Till Freedom Reparations.
His poetry is known for its raw truth and historical grounding, with powerful pieces such as “Of Whips and Wages,” “The Ballad of Reparation,” and “The Old Slave Mother” standing as bold reminders of resilience, injustice, and the unbroken spirit of the African diaspora.
Fostering awareness, inspiring conversation, and honoring ancestral stories are at the core of his work. With this publication, Fendly Foster steps forward not only as a poet but as a voice for remembrance, identity, and the ongoing fight for liberation and reparatory justice.
